RESEARCH

EUROPE IS A STRATEGIC LABORATORY FOR RESEARCH ON CANCER PREVENTION, WHICH AIMS TO REDUCE CANCER INCIDENCE AND IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE POPULATION.
RESEARCH

Europe is a region where cancer prevention research has achieved notable results over the years. Thanks to the commitment of health institutions and sector experts, risk factors have been identified, screening strategies adopted and prevention policies developed to reduce the incidence of cancer.

The European Cancer Prevention Organization (ECP) is an organization that coordinates and supports research programs on cancer prevention in Europe. Through international collaborations and targeted funding, the ECP promotes the advancement of scientific knowledge and the transfer of discoveries into clinical practice and health policy.

The ECP therefore supports innovative projects aimed at reducing the risk and incidence of tumors: the objective is to identify tumor lesions early, improve the accessibility of screening tests and develop prevention strategies based on lifestyle and use of drugs and vaccines.

PROJECTS

ECP research projects focus on various areas, including:

Identification of risk factors: The research aims to identify and better understand cancer risk factors, such as exposure to harmful substances, heredity, lifestyle and environment. This information allows us to develop personalized prevention strategies and implement targeted interventions to reduce tumor incidence.

Screening and early diagnosis: The ECP supports research aimed at improving screening strategies and early diagnosis of cancer. The objective is to identify more effective and accessible screening methods, which allow the early detection of tumor lesions, thus increasing the chances of recovery and reducing the incidence of advanced forms of cancer.

Prevention interventions: The research promoted by the ECP also focuses on the development of effective prevention interventions. This includes studies on lifestyle, such as diet and physical activity, as well as the use of preventive medications and vaccines, in order to reduce the risk of developing cancer.

RESEARCH

Research is the best tool to defeat cancer. Today cancer can be treated, and in many cases even cured and above all prevented!

DR. FRANCESCO DI BELLO (2024)

Dr. Francesco Di Bello has been selected among deserving researchers as the winner of the 2024 ECP Travel Award, given his active and peculiar commitment to scientific research in urological cancer prevention.

Dr. Francesco Di Bello, born on May 12, 1996, in Naples, is currently in the fourth year of his Residency program in Urology at the University of Naples “Federico II.”
He is presently engaged in a fellowship focusing on epidemiology of urological cancers at the Centre de Recherche de l’Université de Montréal (crCHUM) in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Di Bello has authored several publications within his area of expertise and actively participates in scientific peer reviewing and editing processes. He serves as an Associate Editor for the “Urologic cancers” section of the European Journal of Cancer Prevention.

This coveted award was made possible thanks to the donation of the

Travel Grant

The European Cancer Prevention Organization (ECP) is extremely excited to announce the creation of a unique financial support resource: this initiative, tailored for those who wish to deepen their expertise in cancer prevention through travel experiences, aims to offer valuable financial support.

Our goal is to promote the growth and advancement of cancer research by facilitating active participation and interaction with internationally renowned experts in the field.

We therefore invite all interested researchers to submit their applications to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Applications will be carefully and impartially evaluated, ensuring that funding is awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional potential and align with ECP’s mission.

Criteria such as involvement in cancer prevention research, travel plans and goals outlined by applicants will be taken into consideration.
